Junior High Final Homework Assignment Trimester 2

Due: Please turn in at the Final Exam, which will be during the week of Feb. 13th.

Assignment:

First, listen to the following pieces and write down 1) the mood (there might be more than one) of the piece. 2)how the composer constructs the mood (for example: which instruments he uses or the tempo etc.) Give as many ways as you can.

Secondly, be able to identify (title and composer) all the pieces below in preparation for the final exam.

Piano Concerto number 12: first movement by Mozart

1)This piece is written for piano and chamber (small) orchestra. What minute/second does the piano begin playing?
2)The orchestra plays a theme at the very beginning of the piece. Name at least two other places where the same theme comes up again.
3)Give at least three places (minute/second) where the orchestra is playing but lets the piano come to the foreground.
4)Name at least one place where you can hear an oboe (a wind instrument) playing in the orchestra.

Assignment:

Be prepared for a quiz on the dates of the 5 representative composers of the Classical period that were given in class.

Write a two-paragraph biography each of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert, being sure to include their significant dates, and by whom they were employed.
